Doctrine of Christ Conference

General Musings

A wonderful weekend was had by all who attended the conference in St. George. To be huddled with dear friends who love the Lord and honor His wonderful Gospel and to hear inspired speakers was a delight. No vanilla pudding served. It was all meat and lots of it.

The Spirit of the Restored Church was evident and burned in the hearts of those who listened to messages of truth and light. The talks are available both in print and audio here:, as is a link to the scriptures project. What an immense undertaking but well worth the effort. I am grateful to those involved.

I was just reading 3rd Nephi on the site. I appreciate the paragraph format which is much easier to read than all the disjointed verses in our current version. I look forward to reading the revised D&C back in the original categorical format. I have ordered my copy of the printed versions and can’t wait until the three volumes arrive. This is a major historical milestone.

It is evident the Lord’s hand is in the work. His Spirit is rich and abundant among those who honor the truths of the Restoration. Joseph Smith would be proud, no doubt. Perhaps his farm can be saved after all.

The above statement refers to a dream Joseph Smith had and related to several in the Carthage Jail only hours before his murder. The dream is as follows:

Joseph related the following dream which he had last night:

"I was back in Kirtland, Ohio, and thought I would take a walk out by myself, and view my old farm, which I found grown up with weeds and brambles, and altogether bearing evidence of neglect and want of culture. I went into the barn, which I found without floor or doors, with the weather-boarding off, and was altogether in keeping with the farm.

"While I viewed the desolation around me, and was contemplating how it might be recovered from the curse upon it, there came rushing into the barn a company of furious men, who commenced to pick a quarrel with me.

"The leader of the party ordered me to leave the barn and farm, stating it was none of mine, and that I must give up all hope of ever possessing it.

"I told him the farm was given me by the Church, and although I had not had any use of it for some time back, still I had not sold it, and according to righteous principles it belonged to me or the Church.

"He then grew furious and began to rail upon me, and threaten me, and said it never did belong to me nor to the Church.

"I then told him that I did not think it worth contending about, that I had no desire to live upon it in its present state, and if he thought he had a better right I would not quarrel with him about it but leave; but my assurance that I would not trouble him at present did not seem to satisfy him, as he seemed determined to quarrel with me, and threatened me with the destruction of my body.

"While he was thus engaged, pouring out his bitter words upon me, a rabble rushed in and nearly filled the barn, drew out their knives, and began to quarrel among themselves for the premises, and for a moment forgot me, at which time I took the opportunity to walk out of the barn about up to my ankles in mud.

"When I was a little distance from the barn, I heard them screeching and screaming in a very distressed manner, as it appeared they had engaged in a general fight with their knives. While they were thus engaged, the dream or vision ended." As related to  Cyrus H. Wheelock in CARTHAGE JAIL, June 27th, 1844 in the presence of Hyrum and others.

I am certain that this conference will find many in the LDS organization railing against the proceedings much like those in Joseph’s dream. I call it an “organization” because there is no church currently organized called the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

That name is simply a trade mark owned by Intellectual Reserve, Inc. which is a subsidiary of the Corporation of the President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. That corporation is a massive conglomerate of real estate holdings, shopping malls, media companies, and many, many other for-profit holdings. The organization to which they refer to as “the church” is simply a cash cow supplying substantial income which is invested and yields massive investment income. We have discussed this in prior posts.

I am grateful to the Lord for lifting the condemnations after the 5th generation after Nauvoo and opening the heavens and pouring out light and truth for those who seek it, and Him.

“And it shall come to pass that if you build a house unto my name, and do not do the things that I say, I will not perform the oath which I make unto you, neither fulfil the promises which ye expect at my hands, saith the Lord.

“For instead of blessings, ye, by your own works, bring cursings, wrath, indignation, and judgments upon your own heads, by your follies, and by all your abominations, which you practise before me, saith the Lord.

“And the iniquity and transgression of my holy laws and commandments I will visit upon the heads of those who hindered my work, unto the third and fourth generation, so long as they repent not, and hate me, saith the Lord God.” D&C 124:47-48, 50

If the Nauvoo saints finished the temple, then God is a liar because He didn’t protect them as He promised. The only alternative is that they did not finish the temple and were under condemnation. The current LDS organization denies this. I’m not sure I’d want to be found calling God a liar. There are 15 men in Salt Lake City who desire that I sustain them as prophets, seers, and revelators of God, who are doing just that. Sorry guys, your arguments just don’t stand the light of day, or reason.

The Lord is near and available to all who believe and trust in His Restoration of the Gospel. It has veered of course and the organization that the Lord restored using Joseph Smith appears as having “grown up with weeds and brambles, and altogether bearing evidence of neglect and want of culture.” Correlation has robbed the Saints of truth and light and now there is another effort to restore that which has been corrupted by men and lost. It is not an organization because those will be corrupted by men. It is the simple Church of Christ doing what the Lord inspires its members to do—follow Him. (3rd Nephi 26:20-21)

This conference is ample evidence that there are those who are dedicated to light and truth. I was delighted and honored to have been in attendance.
